The Bread Of Life

The body has a remarkable power of assimilation. No matter how varied the articles of food, all are received and so assimilated that the eater is made strong thereby. The soul as well as the body needs a variety of food if it is to grow up thoroughly developed in every part. This wholesome variety is found in the Word of God. Every truth revealed by God that is believed and accepted becomes assimilated by the new man, who is strengthened and built up thereby. Hence, if we would be healthy men of full stature, the whole "bread tree" of Divine revelation must be our food. The work of assimilation may go on unconsciously, but the building process is none the less sure It takes a whole Bible to reveal a whole Christ as the Bread of Life for the whole man. Eat, O friends, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
