Audio Sermon: Thou Shalt Not Steal

Download and/or listen to the following audio sermon:

Thou Shalt Not Steal

Exodus 20
preached by Pastor Jason Lim
at Gospel Light Christian Church Singapore

The following outline is a 'discussion suggestion guide' for the pastor, small group leader or a facilitator in a small group; to assist the facilitator to lead the group in discussing the sermon and its principles and/or application, AFTER listening to the audio sermon.

Discussion #1: Situations

Blatant stealing: Pick pocket, robbery, burglary, embezzlement, swindling, extortion, kidnapping.

We can steal too in the office (both employee and employer), in taxations, in payments.
We can also steal software, music, academically and time.

There is also stealing in religion and gambling.

We also steal from God- His glory, offerings etc

Share: In what ways have you stolen before?

Discussion #2: Significance

Stealing is violating the commandment to love your neighbour (Mat 19:18,19, Rom 13:8,9)
Christians are not only commanded not to steal, we are also to give.

Share: How have you been a blessing to others in your giving?

Share: Eph 4:28 reminds us the reason why we should work. Share how this verse impacts your life.

Discussion #3: Solution

We need to recognise stealing is a sin God hates (Mat 15:19). We are then to repent, and also to restore to fellow men whom we have robbed.

Share: Are there instances you have restored to others what you have stolen?

Jesus died in place of the robber Barabbas, and was crucified between 2 thieves. He then said to one “today, you will be with me in paradise”. 1Cor 6:10,11 reminds us how we can be changed by God.

Share: How has God changed your life since your salvation, and how he has helped you overcome the sin of stealing.
